Uptake’s data scientists don’t spend their time solving data science problems. They spend their time solving business problems using data science. So how do they translate data into actionable results? First, they start with the problem at hand and determine what kind of data they need to solve that problem. Then, they prepare and model the data.

In order to do all of that, data scientists apply a number of skills including programming, mathematics and statistics, and domain expertise. Data science lives at the intersection of these areas. In part two, Manny B. highlights the skills data scientists use to solve business problems:
