It's a shame not to have the time to explore this city which proudly has one foot in the past and the other in the future. But if you only have a day to visit Milwaukee, these are the highlights you shouldn't miss.

From its Victorian decor to its great downtown location, this hotel makes a great base for a quick visit. Great bistros, upscale shopping at Grand Avenue Mall and the famous Milwaukee Riverwalk are within steps of the hotel.
Channel your inner Bond with a visit to this hidden restaurant/bar that is so secret, the sign outside says "International Exports LTD." Once inside, they'll ask for the password, but if you don't know it, they'll still let you in if you pass the spy test. Inside great food, drinks and other secrets await. It is so much fun!
The root beer, made with honey, is so sinfully delicious, you may never drink another brand again.
The building itself is a work of art, looking like a futuristic sailing ship coming out of Lake Michigan. Inside are several floors of modern art exhibits in a variety of mediums. It's a great way to spend an afternoon.
Milwaukee is the birthplace of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle and this interactive museum details the 100-plus year history of the classic two-wheeler. There's also weekly bike and vintage auto shows and a cafe/bar that not only serves up good food (try the all-you-can-eat Friday fish fry), but live music, too.
