Spend a Weekend with Kids in Kenosha, Wisconsin

Sitting on the border between Wisconsin and Illinois, most people drive past Kenosha on their travels on I-94 between Chicago and Milwaukee. But the city is actually worth a day trip all its own with lots of fun, low cost things to do for families.

This extended stay hotel is great for families because it offers a kitchen in each suite to save on meal costs. Good location, too.
Serving Kenosha since 1945, The Spot Drive-In serves up what may be the best burgers in town, and they even brew their own root beer. Bring cash, though, because they don't accept credit cards.
Must be 8 or older to climb the lighthouse.
Tour the Jelly Belly warehouse via an electric tram and learn more about the sweet treat. Then enjoy lots of free samples and great deals afterwards. Fun for the whole family!
What kid doesn't like dinosaurs? How about a whole museum of them? Enjoy a few hours among life-size dinosaur replicas, bones and fossils, interactive exhibits and more. Best of all, it's completely free!
On weekends from May through October, tour the 55-foot tall lighthouse, built in 1866, and visit the museum next to it. Must be 8 or older to climb the lighthouse.
Bring cash, though, because they don't accept credit cards.
