Woodinville Splurge!

More than 70 wineries in one town is the main attraction in Woddinville. But that's not the end of the story. Some of these wineries are from Eastern Washington -- the half of the state on the other side of the Cascades with the majority of vineyards -- and have their winemaking cellars and tasting rooms in Woodinville. Others make the wine in Eastern Washington and simply have opened tasting rooms in Woodinville. Why? They are bringing the wine to the populace. Woodinville sits in a farming valley only 13 miles from downtown Seattle, and has become both a day-trip and a weekend wine getaway destination.

Second, this eco-conscious, pet-friendly lodge pulls out all the stops when it comes to ambiance and hospitality. Spacious rooms include repurposed building materials, luxury linens, fireplace, large soaking tub, walk-in shower, and so much more. Sustainable landscaping and herb gardens surround the building cushioning guests in a park-like setting. A wine bar just off the lobby offers a taste of Woodinville without even having to go out. Two renowned restaurants on the property include The Herb Farm and Barking Frog.

This acclaimed restaurant has become a destination, and no Woodinville spurge would be complete without dinner here. Chef Bobby Moore is the creative culinary force who elevates local, seasonal ingredients to edible art in this comfortable country bistro. At Barking Frog, you should indulge in every course and splurge with the sommelier's suggested wine pairings. And save room for dessert.
These two wineries joined forces in one award-winning structure, but still produce two separate labels under one winemaker.

Chateau Ste. Michelle is the grande dame of Woodinville wineries. One of the oldest wineries in the state and the first in Woodinville, Ste. Michelle virtually invented the concept of Woodinville Wine Country. Stop in for a guided tour, or just sampe what they're pouring in the tasting room. The grounds were once an old country estate belonging to a prominent Northwest family and have been meticulously maintained. Ste Michelle also has an outdoor amphitheater, which has become a major concert venue in the Northwest. Buy a picnic and a bottle of wine in the Chateau's shop and enjoy the concert.
Visit Novelty Hill-Januik for the architecture as much as the wines. These two wineries joined forces in one award-winning structure, but still produce two separate labels under one winemaker. The tasting room is in full view of the cellar operations, and on a nice day, you can enjoy the patio and try your hand at bocce ball.
