Puyallup Weekend with Kids

In Western Washington, you can tell if a person is a local by how they pronounce Puyallup. If you're not from these parts, half the fun is figuring it out for yourself, so I'm not about to reveal the secret. Another popular activity in Puyallup is getting out and exploring this small family-friendly city - once a farming community and now a town filled with activities to keep kids occupied and having a great time all weekend.

Convenient to both downtown Puyallup and the South Hill area, the newly renovated Holiday Inn Express is a smart choice for families. Parking and breakfast are free. Most rooms feature more than one bed to accommodate families, and suites are available for added privacy.

Mama Stortini's serves hearty portions of Italian classics, and some not-so-classics, at very good prices - a perfect mix for dining with kids. The menu has something everybody will like, even the finickiest eater at your table. The Stortini family has been in the restaurant business for decades; they have a large following and know how to deliver a satisfying dining experience.

What's more fun than walking into a restaurant and making your own pizza? At Trackside Pizza, that's exactly what the kids at your table get to do. The staff delivers the raw dough and sauce and the kids get to add their own choices of toppings and pop it in the oven. Sorry, adults have to order off the menu. The proximity to trains rattling the building adds to the fun.

The collection at the Karshner Museum introduces children to history and cultures around the world. Kids love the hands-on features of this museum as they learn by discovering. The museum is normally used by school classes, but certain hours are set aside for public visits. Be sure to check the website for public days and hours.
