Puyallup Splurge!

In Western Washington, you can tell if a person is a local by how they pronounce Puyallup. If you're not from these parts, half the fun is figuring it out for yourself, so I'm not about to reveal the secret. Another popular activity in Puyallup is getting out and exploring this small city - once a farming community and now a town filled with public art, antique malls, homespun boutiques and arts and crafts. For a splurge getaway in Puyallup, I recommend a room in an antique B&B, finding the best fine dining spots and wine bars, and browsing the shops both downtown at South Hill Mall for some unique finds.

Victorian Puyallup comes alive at Tayberry Victorian Cottage B&B. Furnished in period antiques, the common areas and guest rooms evoke a different time and way of life. The genial hosts will make sure you have all the amenities you need and are well oriented to the Puyallup area to take advantage of the local attractions. Breakfasts are homey and satisfying with attention to dietary preferences.

Hedman House originated in 1907 as a farmhouse, but today seems perfectly suited to its new life as a B&B. The innkeepers have transformed this home while preserving its best original features. The location within walking distance of downtown Puyallup with its restaurants and antique stores make this B&B an excellent base from which to explotre this city.

This perfect start to a Northwest-inspired Italian menu is a must and the rest of the choices are just as satisfying. Being a wine bar, the staff is knowledgable and able to suggest great wine pairings for every course. Come to Toscano's with an appetite and save room for dessert.
Perfect for browsing and strolling, downtown Puyallup is a place for a day of discovery. Relax in Pioneer Park, a quintessential village square, and snoop through the nearby antique shops. Who knows? You just might find that perfect antique your home has been calling for.
