It's a surprise to many travelers that they don't have to spend a fortune to have a great weekend on San Juan Island. You probably won't find a better value when it comes to lodging on San Juan Island. Family-friendly States Inn and Ranch has the comfort of a home and the privacy you expect in the best B&Bs. You can choose from an array of rooms and suites to comfortably accommodate every party from a single to a family. The spacious ranch setting provides a real get-away ambiance. An excellent full breakfast is included. This is a bit of a drive from town, but you won't find a more pleasant drive.

Learn about all things cetacean for a ticket price from free up to six clams, depending on your age. You can browse for hours in this very educational museum and only scratch the surface of the world of these giant mammals and the ecosystem of the waters surrounding the island - the Salish Sea. The museum exhibits are appropriate for adults and kids, making this a great family experience everyone will remember for a long time.
The food is outstanding and reasonably priced for such top quality.

Fortunately, the only casualty was a pig (a real one!) but the dispute lasted for years. In the end, The USA won the island. At the San Juan Island National Historic Park, you can learn all about this quirky affair and tread on the soil in the American and English camps where it all happened. A small but excellent Visitor Center at Americal Camp provides an informative lesson on "The Pig War."
