While  heading to Shanghai via the world's fastest train from Beijing, I read a few quotes about it being the world's most futuristic city to DaVinci, who laughed and said it sounded like hyperbole from a copywriter.

Then, that first night at the exquisite Fairmont Peace Hotel, we got our first glimpse of the Shanghai skyline from their legendary Cathay Room terrace which over looks the Bund, river and skyline...and we were totally blown away!

I have much more to say on this topic, but a picture is worth a thousand words, so will let you be the judge. Is this the world's best skyline or what?

Having seen most of the world's cities ( I've been to about 90 countries and China makes our 45th on 5 continents on our world tour) it certainly impressed us as one of the most spectacular.
