Saturday’s scene: on the way to Mendocino
Alan took this Pacific Coast Highway photograph on a drive from Jenner to Mendocino during a coastal California road trip. On a sunny May morning, we left our accommodations at Mill Rose Inn in Half Moon Bay for the drive through San Francisco, connecting back with the famed road at Jenner where the Russian River pours into the Pacific Ocean. We discovered a stunning ride that gave Alan plenty of opportunity to check out the Porsche’s paces as it twisted and turned past rocky headlands, ranches that stretched to the sea and sweeping vistas. And we made plenty of stops at overlooks where wildflowers bent their colorful blooms in the wind. We think this more off-the-beaten-path stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway is just as spectacular as Big Sur and well worth the drive.
Do you have a favorite stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway? Tell us about it in the comments. Alan and I would like to go back to explore more.
