Musee D’Orsay, You Don’t Say!

By: travelsavvymom

There are a lot of museums in Paris.   A lot.   And believe it or not, they all don’t reside within the Louvre.

One of my favorite museums, especially when you are talking about bringing the kids along, is the Musee D’Orsay.  A former train station converted into a fabulous modern museum, it couples a world-class impressionist art collection with room for your children to move.  Could you ask for anything more?  (If you just answered chocolate to that hypothetical question, I should also add that you can get that and then some at the Museum’s incredible Cafe des Hauteurs).

So when folks ask me what they shouldn’t miss during a family trip to Paris, I tell them to definitely visit the Musee D’Orsay.  You should, too.

I could'nt agree more! Even a 6 year old can enjoy the many wonderful museums in Paris...ours did! The key is to gear the visits to kids timing and prepare them before hand with kid's books on the topic and add a fun park or kid treat before and after.

If you buy them a fun journal book at the museum shop and let them draw & write about what they see, it not only buys more time for the adults to linger, but makes a precious memoir forever!
