Celebrating on Silversea's Silver Cloud

How time flys! Today, Alan and I are celebrating My Itchy Travel Feet‘s four year anniversary. I had no idea when I started a travel blog for active boomers, as a way to attract editors and writing assignments, that My Itchy Travel Feet would take on a life of its own. But that’s what happened. And it didn’t take long before I forgot about the editors, brought Alan on board as our photographer and focused on publishing the best first-hand travel accounts possible to help you plan an active boomer trip.

Since last year’s anniversary celebration, we’ve been featured at CNN Travel, Budget Travel and Second Act. And My Itchy Travel Feet was one of five finalists in the best travel blog category for the 2011 Bloggies.

We’re now broadcasting our brand of boomer travel news on several different social media channels. Our vibrant Facebook page is booming (pardon the pun) with travel specials and information, photo quizzes and just plain fun. If Google+ is more you’re style, we’re there too. Want to read My Itchy Travel Feet blog posts on a mobile device? Subscribe to us on Google Currents or bookmark our feed on Flipboard. You’ll also find our content syndicated at AZ Voices, the online community blog site of the Arizona Republic, Arizona’s regional newspaper.

Our newsletter, where we publish more travel news and specials, is celebrating one year of publication this month. Are you subscribed? We’re also working on a big project to transfer all of our photos to an online gallery at SmugMug. Be patient, it’s going to take awhile. Okay, I know you’re curious about what topics have been the most popular at My Itchy Travel Feet. Which post received the most traffic? It’s the same answer as last year, an oldie, but goodie from 2009: Discovering Arizona’s Slot Canyons. And which Saturday’s scene has been the most popular? What’s in store for our boomer readers as we move toward year five? Now that Alan and I have moved to Montana, you’ll be seeing more coverage of the Northwestern portion of the U.S. and our next door neighbor, Alberta, Canada. We’re looking forward to a trip to Glacier National Park later this summer. In December, we’ll be sailing on our first European river cruise. Our healthy travel features will continue because there’s one thing that I’ve learned from sitting too many hours behind the computer, if you don’t take care of your health, you can’t travel the world.
