Big Sister in China

At her Traditional Chinese
school in China, they call her
"Big Sister" ( 姐姐 jiě jie)  and

"Big Sister" ( 姐姐 jiě jie) in China - language immersion in Mandarin

At her Traditional Chinese School in China, they call her "Big Sister" ( 姐姐 jiě jie)  and Mozart thrives on being an older sibling and playing with them. She has grown so fond of them in this past month living with them daily and they adore her. This is just a partial group with a teacher looking on.

Here she captures them in video and photos from her pink ipod at the school field trip we all
took together in the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. We stopped for a snack break and a bunch lined up for some photos. The schoool is such a warm, caring, educational environment and lots of the folks including grandparents, parents and school kids hang out there daily as a community.

The youngest baby was a bit afraid of Mozart at first as he'd never seen a foreigner before. These kids may have seen a few around Beijing, but it is still rare to see a non-Asian in Beijing, so they probably have had no direct contact with a foreigner or been able to converse with one. Thus, it has been a real win/win for all. Mozart gets to immerse in her Mandarin and all of us get to connect in deeper ways and learn more from each other.
