Tim Patterson

Tim Patterson has slept in haunted houses in Cambodia, in the engine compartment of a slow boat on the Mekong River in Laos, among baboons and elephants at the bottom of Ngorongoro Crater, atop a mountain pass in Bhutan, and under a bush in Hokkaido after his tent exploded during a typhoon. His travel writing focuses on off-beat destinations, long-term travel, cultural awareness and environmentally conscious tourism, and has appeared in print media such as Get Lost and The Kyoto Journal, as well as a host of online media. He is a frequent contributor to Matador Travel and writes a regular column for BraveNewTraveler.com. His work has also appeared at CommonLanguageProject.net, TalesofAsia.com, TravelMag.co.uk, Permalink.it and IdioImagers.org. Tim writes in English and in Japanese, and his work has been translated into Russian and Italian.
