Sta Monica Pier is the stop you shouldn't miss..aquarium,flying trapeze lesson, restos ocean view, boardwalk, bike trails, beach, front to watch sunset is awesome! My husbands favorite place is the gazebo i cant believe we got tons of pictures taken there..visit www.santamonicapier.org/...
I would check out the Mid-City Neighborhood. This neighborhood has many shops and little restaurants and is really were most of the locals go to eat and shop-in other words, there are lots of hidden gems in there!
Third Street Promenade! Just a couple blocks from the beach, the neighborhood is closed to thru traffic, which makes it extra nice to wander around. There are dozens and dozens of shops and cafes, as well as a couple of bars and movie theaters that generate some nightlife. There are also lots of street performers (think Venice Beach but more family-friendly) who are really good at their craft and lots of fun to watch.
Definitely check out Montana Avenue and Pico Boulevard. Montana Avenue is located in what is a primarily residential neighborhood, which gives its shops and restaurants a distinct, local clientele. Pico Boulevard is known for its outstanding farmers market (look for delicious treats here), one-of-a-kind boutiques, and several high-end restaurants.
