The small town charm of Julian California is the perfect setting for a romantic vacation. This mountain getaway is only an hour east of San Diego and is steeped in the history of the Gold Rush. It is best to have a driver, so that you won’t have to drive yourself back to your hotel afterwards.  There are many other wineries in the area, such as the Menghini Winery and Codarossa, where you can taste the fine products and purchase a few bottles to take home with you. At the Menghini Winery, there are picnic sites, so bring a lunch, buy a bottle of wine and have a romantic picnic on the grounds.

This town is designated as a Historic landmark and as such has many historic homes and museums. Take a driving tour of the historic downtown to see all of the famous sites. Dine at some of the finest restaurants and taste the delicious apple pies and cider of which the town is quite proud. Several locations offer live entertainment on Saturday nights to accompany your meal.
