If you are going to plan a Florida vacation, decide what your primary interest is. If you want to spend your time on the water, spend the day romping on Jacksonville Beach. At the end of that day head to Joe’s Crab Shack. It’s easy to find, its right on the beach by the lifeguard station. This is a fun, come as you are restaurant. Sit outside on the deck and watch the sun set over the ocean. The Crab Shack is just what it says, they serve crab, any way you can think of, and it’s all good.
Every Titanic junkie will appreciate you including a stop at the Titanic, Ship of Dreams Exhibit in Orlando in your Florida vacation itinerary. This is a great guided tour. The guides offer tons of information and you leave feeling like you were actually there, on the Ship of Dreams. When you receive your ticket, notice that it has a name printed on it. At the end of the tour you will see the Wall of Memory. It will list the names of those who died. It is chilling to see if “your name” is on the list of those who perished. This is a great Florida vacation stop.
A stop at Fort Matanzas in Florida’s oldest city, Saint Augustine is a great adventure to add to you Florida vacation schedule. There is no admission fee to visit the fort, but spring for the $5 charge for the night visit. This is not offered every night, so check the schedule when making your plans. The canon firings are amazing at night and there are more people populating the fort at night in period costume.
