One Day in Lubbock, Texas

Lubbock is the eleventh largest city in Texas; not very big as far as Texas cities go, but big enough to be home for two universities and several businesses. As a big rock and roll fan, I was mostly excited to visit Lubbock because it is the home of Buddy Holly and the Crickets. But, I have come to love everything about the city. The people are great, very friendly and hospitable. Lubbock is also a big agricultural center with many cotton fields and wineries. I am also a big wine fan, so I made it a point to learn about and visit as many wineries in the area as I could. I enjoyed every part of my visit here and will definitely return.

The Buddy Holly Center is a fantastic place to visit if you are a rock and roll fan and a fun treat even if you're not. A lot of people know Buddy's hit songs, but don't realize the scope of his influence on rock and roll. This museum will definitely change that when you view the film about his career. A lot of people know Buddy's hit songs, but don't realize the scope of his influence on rock and roll. This museum will definitely change that when you view the film about his career. I think I enjoyed looking at all the memorabilia the most, like the horn-rimmed glasses that were recovered from the site of the plane crash that killed him. It is small compared to some museums, but definitely worth the small admission price of five dollars. Be advised that the center is closed on Mondays.

Three times a year they offer a comprehensive two day school that covers the basic tenets of wind power generation and gives students the opportunity to climb the Center's 50 meter wind turbine tower. The center is a great value, with general admission priced at only $5.00 per person or $10.00 for a family of four. I suggest checking ahead because the hours can vary. Overall, I recommend it for a very enjoyable and informative afternoon.
The rooms were extra clean and I loved the down comforters on the beds.
Manna Bread and Wine Restaurant is actually a lot more than just bread and wine. They have a great lunch and dinner menu. But, in my opinion, the reason to go is the extensive wine list featuring many locally made wines paired with the fantastic appetizer menu. But, in my opinion, the reason to go is the extensive wine list featuring many locally made wines paired with the fantastic appetizer menu. I ordered my wine by the glass so I was able to sample three different Texas wines without the pressure of finishing the bottle. My favorite appetizers were the bleu cheese Napoleon and the goat cheese croquette. Both were so delicious. Be advised, however, that if you are not into wine, this is probably not the best option for you. But, if you are, I highly recommend it.
The Quality Inn and Suites in Lubbock is located a little bit away from downtown, but the affordable rates make it more than worth it. It is still very convenient, just off the Highway 289 loop, and is within walking distance of many places to eat and shop. The rooms were extra clean and I loved the down comforters on the beds. I was a complaining guest at first because I had problems connecting to the free internet. But, the staff kept smiling and were very helpful in getting me connected, making my stay very enjoyable overall.
