One Day in Lake Meredith, Texas

Lake Meredith is a man-made reservoir near Amarillo, Texas. Blocked by the Sanford Dam, the lake was built to supply water to several cities nearby. It also turned this spot into a National Recreation Area, with many outdoor activities to attract a large number of visitors. Take advantage of the outdoors through camping, hiking and fishing, to name a few. Or rent a houseboat and sleep right on the water. If camping isnt your thing, there are several good hotels, bed and breakfasts, and cabin rentals in the area. Be sure to stay updated on the current weather forecast, as the weather is known for changing quickly at Lake Meredith.

I recommend finding out what permits you need and having them on hand to avoid any unnecessary trouble. There are so many fun things to do here, make sure you allow yourself plenty of time and dont rush your visit. I found it so beautiful, that I didnt want to leave. I will definitely go back again.
Three Falls Cove is a lovely little bed and breakfast on the north side of Lake Meredith in Texas. I rented a boat for a few enjoyable hours of fishing and relaxing on the lake. It was a perfect afternoon among nature.
I think there is no better way to enjoy Lake Meredith than on a houseboat. We rented one on our visit and I highly recommend it. The houseboat provided the perfect place to relax after a full day of waterskiing, and to eat and sleep in comfort, without leaving the lake. We also had a blast fishing from the deck of the houseboat. Lake Meredith has a reputation for being a fisherman's haven. We caught a few Small mouth Bass. If you dont want the houseboat, the marina at Lake Meredith rents all sorts of watercraft, like ski boats and canoes. There are even scuba divers in the lake at times.

The Best Western Borger Inn, located on Highway 207 in Borger, is just a quick drive from Lake Meredith National Park and Alibates Caverns. The rooms are great; clean and comfortable. They come fully equipped with satellite television, free internet access, a microwave and refrigerator. There is a pretty nice indoor pool, a whirlpool, and a decent exercise room. They serve a complimentary hot breakfast every morning which is a refreshing difference from the crappy continental breakfasts you get at some hotels, and complimentary fresh baked cookies and coffee every evening in the lobby. I would definitely return to stay here again.

The Holiday Inn Express Suites in Borger is conveniently located near Highway 136, just a short distance from Cadillac Ranch, Lake Meredith and the Alibates Flint Quarry. I also thought it was kind of cool to be staying in the heart of Texas oil country, being less than two miles from the Conoco Phillips Refinery and the Chevron Phillips Company. I also thought it was kind of cool to be staying in the heart of Texas oil country, being less than two miles from the Conoco Phillips Refinery and the Chevron Phillips Company. I loved relaxing in the indoor heated mineral pool after some time in the hotels fitness center. My favorite thing here, however, was the daily, complimentary hot breakfast. They dont skimp because its free; you get a really good breakfast. I was so impressed with this hotel, I practically forgot I was at a Holiday Inn Express.
