Looking for a fun, low-key family weekend? Nashville has something for everyone. Although country music is a driving force behind tourism, Music City is more than just sparkle and twang. There are many unique restaurants and attractions in the downtown area that appeal to kids of all ages.

The downtown Nashville Hilton is a no-brainer for families who want to stay in the heart of Music City. Located just a short walk from the beautiful Country Music Hall of Fame and bustling 2nd Avenue, it's also conveniently located near the interstate should you want to make a day trip to the Nashville Zoo or another family friendly stop.

Lions and tigers and flamingos oh my! No family vacation to Nashville is complete without a trip to the Nashville Zoo, located a short drive from downtown. The Gibbon Island and Meerkat Habitats were voted by cable network Animal Planet as the best exhibits of their kind in the U.S. and a new Flamingo Lagoon exhibit opened in summer 2010. The incredible Jungle Gym playground is my daughters' favorite attraction and is guaranteed to wear your kids out after a day spent animal gazing. It's the largest community-built playground in the United States. Be forewarned, though. You might have to send in a chimp to track them down.
Parents will love that their offspring are having hands-on learning experiences in health, earth science, and energy, even if it means wearing their running shoes to keep up with them.
