Memphis is home to Elvis, the Blues and Gibson Guitar Company. But don't leave the kids behind when you come for a fun weekend. You'll find plenty of family fun in Memphis. Visit the grizzly bears at the zoo, pretend to be a pilot at the Children's Museum, watch an IMAX movie at the Pink Palace, then go splash in a mock-up of the Mississippi River on Mud Island. Hey, don't forget to taste some ribs for me.

Where can you find a scale model of the Mississippi River? At Mud Island River Park on the banks of the mighty river in Memphis. Trace the course of the Mississippi as it meanders through the South. Kids of all ages are allowed to wade in the water and play in the fountains. Who knew that geography could be this much fun?

Even the kids will enjoy the finger licking ribs at Charles Vergos' Rendevous.
The Pink Palace is a collection of Memphis museums. The complex includes a science center, planetarium, nature center and history museum. But my favorite is the CTI IMAX Theater. Admission varies depending on which museum package is purchased.
Staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Beale Street puts you in the heart of the Memphis action. I normally wouldn't recommend a downtown hotel for a family weekend but this is just too convenient. Ask about the family package - they offer one.
