Newport Splurge!

In college, I spent my summers working in Newport, and often wistfully stared at some of these luxurious spots. If you are traveling to Rhode Island, and looking to splurge on a fabulous trip, Newport is the place to go! With beautiful scenery, delicious restaurants, and beautiful hotels, there are so many things to enjoy. In addition, there are loads of shops were you can really find some local souvenirs.

For a splurge trip, I had to include the Chanler at Cliff Walk. The location is fabulous - perched right at the tip of the famous Cliff Walk, it's got the most amazing views. It's only got 20 rooms, so book early, especially in the peak season.
This restaurant, one of America's oldest tavern building, is also one of Newport's best. It's received numerous awards including "Best Place to Impress a Visitor" from Rhode Island Monthly Magazine. Dress is business casual.
Owned originally by the Cornelius Vanderbilt family, the Breakers is a must-see.
This club has been around since 1893, and was founded by prominent American businessmen, including John Jacob Astor and Cornelius Vanderbilt. To go though, you'll need to know a member or apply for membership - day passes aren't sold.
You deserve some relaxation on your trip, so take a trip over to the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Goat Island in Newport to the Stillwater Spa. The Stillwater Spa is in a gorgeous location, and it offers some fabulous treatments
I might be a bit biased (I worked in this gorgeous mansion for years while I was in college), but I think this is the number one attraction in Newport. Owned originally by the Cornelius Vanderbilt family, the Breakers is a must-see.
