Outdoor Family Fun in Eugene, Oregon

On my visits to Eugene, Oregon, it's hard to decide what to do first...bike along the paths, tube the Willamette River or take in a minor league baseball game. Eugene is all about outdoor family fun. When the winter rains in Oregon end, Eugene greens up with enough outdoor activities to satisfy every member of the family. Walk in one of the many city parks, take in a minor league baseball game, hike, fish or see what the farmers are selling at the Lane County Farmer's market.

Introduce your kids to baseball the way it was meant to be played. The Emeralds, Eugene's single A minor league team, plays in an old-fashioned wooden stadium. I like watching local teens manning the manual scoreboard.

The 360 degree view from the top of Spencer's Butte is the reward for hiking the steep, but moderate, trail to the top.
At Lane County Farmer's Market, fresh veggies from local farms are the draw. Food tastes better when you know where it comes from.
Visit birds of prey at the Cascades Raptor Center to learn how the rehabilitaton center nurses the large birds back to health and into the wild.
