Cape May: Do It Local

Ever since I was a little girl I've been traveling to Cape May. Every Summer we would venture down to the Jersey Shore, and now that I'm married it's so special to go with my husband. Not only is this a truly romantic destination, but also fun for a girl's weekend, or a family trip to the beach. It's a beautiful location for any group of any age!

It is walking distance to the beach, boardwalk, town, restaurants and shops, so the location is ideal. The porch has a wide open porch where you can relax with a cup of coffee or tea and a good book and watch the horse drawn carriages go by. The porch has a wide open porch where you can relax with a cup of coffee or tea and a good book and watch the horse drawn carriages go by. Inside they have a parlor, equipped with menus from most of the local restaurants, and there are many fabulous ones to try! Upstairs the rooms are generous in size, with a bed room and sitting area. They are VERY reasonable for a B&B in this location, especially considering all that you get for this price. Rooms range from $135 to $295 per night, for double occupancy, depending on the room and the season, and this includes a full breakfast, afternoon refreshments, VCR or DVD, on-site parking, private baths, refrigerators, a/c., afternoon refreshments, beach umbrellas, chairs and towels, in addition to Wireless web access. I think that this is a terrific deal, so much so that I don't know why poeple would stay in a hotel in Cape May, when you get so much for this amount, and personal attention.
If you are an active person and love great views this is the activity for you. There are 199 steps to the top of the Lighthouse, and this is a great activity for kids. They can burn some energy while climbing to the top, and then you have a beautiful view of Cape May Point from the top.

It's obvious why this B & B has climbed in popularity and in notoriety. Not only is it beautifully decorated, but the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. To be quite honest, I wasn't sure if I would love all the lace, flowers and dark wood decor, but I found it charming, quaint and romantic. They don't allow young children to stay here, so the B & B had this calm peaceful air about it, which was greatly appreciated by us "old" folks, and I say "old" because we're only in our 20's, but still appreciate the peace and quiet. Below are photos of the room we stayed in (#15) and the bathroom tub/shower, which I thought was adorable. One of the things that I appreciated about this B & B is that they have so much to offer from their food to selection of activities to close proximity to the beach. The breakfasts were delicious, served from 8am to 10am each morning. The first day we had a choice of a play on eggs Benedict or French Toast, and my husband and I both had the eggs, and they were very tasty. In addition they had fresh fruit, a warm fruit dish, cereal, fruit drinks, coffee and a moist breakfast cake. On top of this, they offer tea and cookies in the afternoon, and then wine and cheese closer to dinner time. And if you had activities in mind, they offer complimentary bikes to use during your stay, towels and chairs for the beach, board games in their parlor, books and magazines you can read by the fire, and a selection of comfy chairs to choose from on the porch while you sip your wine or tea, or while you curl up with a good book to watch the sun set.

Take advantage of all this has to offer - breakfast, DVD library, snacks and drinks, bike use, beach chairs etc. It's a fantastic place to stay and close to everything!

It has a nature museum where kids can discover the types of wildlife that can be found in NJ. They also have walking trails that go to overlooks and lakes/ponds where you can go birdwatching and nature watching, while getting a little exercise. I wouldn't suggest the trails for very small children, but adults would enjoy it!

The fireplaces in the house are each unique with beautiful tiles and carvings. Each room has beautiful wallpaper and sometimes even the ceilings are covered with cloth. Each room had it's own personality and character, which made it even more enjoyable to tour. The woodwork was gorgeous, and if you love architecture or old homes even half as much as I do, then you should visit this estate!

Perfect Indoor or Outdoor seating for this restaurant. They offer a nice indoor restaurant for a more romantic setting, but also offer deck seating and raw bar where you can watch ships come in and out. I suggest the outdoor seating/dock for families with small children, but indoor for adults who are looking for something a bit quieter.
