One Day in Mt. Charleston, Nevada

Las Vegas may be in a desert, but less than an hour northwest, Mt. Charleston offers great hiking and skiing (depending on the season). Here are the highlights if you only have one day to visit.

This is the place to stay if you want privacy on Mt. Charleston. Each of the 24 cabins offers guests a spacious outdoor deck and a fireplace. Great views, too!
Want more of a luxury hotel feel to your stay? Then book a room at this resort. which features fine restaurants, a spa, live music and more. It's often possible to get a room under $100 here.
If you don't have your own equipment and clothes, you can rent them, too.
This is the only real fine dining restaurant on the mountain, but the food is good and the views are outstanding. You can even try buffalo and wild boar, if you are so inclined.
During the warmer months, there are 51 miles of open trails to hike, with different degrees of difficulty. Two trails are open to mountain bikes.
When winter comes to the desert, everyone flocks to the mountain to ski and snowboard here. If you don't have your own equipment and clothes, you can rent them, too.
