DIRECTIONS
If coming from the north on Highway 59: Exit Fannin Street and continue south on Fannin. Stay in the right lane. Turn right onto Montrose, get into the left lane and continue around Mecom Fountain following the Hermann Drive detour signs. You will cross the Fannin, then San Jacinto intersections heading toward the Sam Houston statue and onto Golf Course Drive. The Museum will be located on the left hand side. Turn left onto Caroline for the Museum's parking garage.If coming from the southwest on Highway 59: Exit Main Street and continue East. Turn right at the second light onto Fannin Street and continue south on Fannin. Stay in the right lane. Continue as above.If coming from the north on Route 288: Exit Southmore/Calumet. At the second light, turn right onto Binz. Continue on Binz. Turn left onto Fannin Street. Stay in the right lane. Turn right onto Montrose, get into the left lane and continue around Mecom Fountain following the Hermann Drive detour signs. After passing through the Medical Center and alongside Hermann Park, turn right onto Montrose. Follow the Hermann Drive detour signs. You will go past the Sam Houston statue and onto Golf Course Drive. The Museum will be located on the left hand side. Turn left onto Caroline for the Museum's parking garage.

Collections: The Museum is a five part complex housing the Burke Baker Planetarium, Wortham IMAX Theatre, Cockrell Butterfly Center and three floors of natural science halls and exhibits. Over a dozen permanent exhibit areas cover subjects on astronomy, space science, Native Americans, paleontology, energy, chemistry, gems and minerals, seashells, and Texas wildlife. Rotating special exhibits are a constant occurrence. There is also the huge Fondren Discovery Place.
