Kansas City Weekend with Kids

This is a charming and fun city with lot's of mid-western friendliness. With kids, I'm going to stay at a fun hotel, eat local delicacies, find some entertaining education, and take in a ballgame. There's actually too much fun stuff for a weekend, you'll have to come back and do it again.

For this trip, I'm staying here. Upgrade to a suite, it'll still be in the budget and you'll have plenty of room for the family. Free breakfast and light dinner, cocktails, and all the popcorn and soda the kids can handle. Around $100.
Kansas City is a barbecue mecca. Low and slow, meats are smoked for hours until they are tender and delicious. Gates is it for us due to the friendly staff, and the moist, succulent, smoky burnt ends sandwiches. Kids love BBQ too! Around $10 per person.
Brown sued to allow his daughter to attend a regular school.
Located at another fun place to go, the City Market, this museum dedicated to a Missouri River steamboat that had sunk features many exhibits of items recovered from the boat. Look for the large paddlewheel and head on in. Adults $14.50, kids $5.50.

As long as I'm in Topeka, I'm going to this "Smithsonian of the Plains." Varied exhibits on the history of the state include race cars, Native American artifacts, homesteading history, and even a faux diner that relates to Kansas' role in developing the fast-food industry. Admission is $6.

We're going to finish up by going to our third favorite stadium (behind Pittsburgh and San Francisco) in baseball. The team's not so hot, but you'll have a blast at this newly renovated, retro stadium Be sure to have some Topsy's popcorn while you here, prepared to your specifications right in front of you. Some of the best popcorn you'll ever have. Ticket prices start at around $10. More
