Twin Cities Weekend with Kids

Minneapolis and St. Paul each have their own playlists on Uptake, but what about those fun things to do that don't fit into their city limits? Here are some of my kids' favorite places to visit in the Twin Cities metro area.

If visiting southwest metro attractions, this is a great place to stay for families. Free breakfast, suites (some with fireplaces) and a waterslide as well as a real kiddie pool make it a good choice for families with kids of various ages.

Step back in time at this 1850's working farm, where you'll be able to help feed the animals, cook in the kitchen, and tend the garden. Special occasions like the 4th of July or annual barn dance are fun, but any day at the Kelley Farm is an adventure.

While not the biggest or fanciest science museum in the Cities, The Works in Edina is my kids' favorite spot for learning about science and engineering while having loads of fun.
A theatre for kids, by kids, with excellent local talent, fun shows, and a venue that is very family-friendly. Shows like Junie B. Jones and Pinkalicious are crowd-pleasers for the children's theater audience.
Kids of all ages will find something fun at this outdoor amusement park. Plan to walk plenty and to get wet even if you don't go on the water rides.
Grizzlies, farm animals, and tigers are some of the most popular exhibits.

Bring your walking shoes to enjoy this large zoo. Grizzlies, farm animals, and tigers are some of the most popular exhibits. Don't miss the bird show, a favorite even if you go to the zoo year after year.
