Rochester is Main Street America

Rochester is a town outside the reaches of the decay many espouse with Detroit, though it's technically a suburb of the Motor City. In fact, it's a town wholly outside so many stereotypes you can associate with Michigan. This is a town with so many options for dining, shopping and entertainment with a historical character that makes it seem as if it has stepped out of the pages of a movie script. It seems at times, all too perfect!

This is a brand new hotel with all the opulence of a historic Ritz Carlton! The food at the Royal Park is the best I've ever experienced at any hotel and the location fits the old adage perfectly, "location is everything". It's literally just off the vibrant main street of downtown Rochester so once you've checked in, you may not need a car again till you leave!
Though the name may not be original, the Eggs Benedict are. There is an indefinable quality that makes them truly the best, when eaten at Downtown Cafe. Well known for reasonable prices, a comfortable atmosphere and the best coffee in town - you'll be happy it's also within walking distance of the Royal Park.
Don't skimp, get the cinnamon sugar donuts and while you're waiting enjoy shopping for that perfect pumpkin to carve or a gift to bring home from your travels from the markets set up around the barn.
Meadow Brook is a classic Tudor style home, now operating as a museum. Once the host of the exclusive Concours d'Elegance showcase for classic cars, it now hosts weddings and events year round and wows audiences of all ages with its historic detail.
The views are wonderful, taking in the gorgeous countryside and sweeping hills that surround downtown Rochester! Who doesn't love a day on the links and this classic course will not disappoint!
It may seem strange, after the opulence of Meadowbrook to have lunch at a dive coney stand. Try it anyway, these coney island hot dogs will change your life! Just beware, there is always a line out the door year round and they only take cash. There is no ATM on-site.

Anchored by luxury department store, Parisian and a Whole Foods this is the place to shop and be seen in Rochester. It has more than chain establishments and also boats incredible green space and a public park. Additionally, it regularly plays host to art and craft fairs - which you won't want to miss.
Paint Creek Trail is one of the many old railroad lines in Michigan that have been converted to walking trails. It's the perfect place to take the kids so they can run off some of that energy in the great outdoors, or take a long walk with that special someone.
Yates is so popular in the Fall months that you could wait hours for cider & donuts. Never will your wait be more worth it. Don't skimp, get the cinnamon sugar donuts and while you're waiting enjoy shopping for that perfect pumpkin to carve or a gift to bring home from your travels from the markets set up around the barn. Kruse & Muer is part of a Michigan chain, started by friends Chuck Muer and Bill Kruse but don't let that fool you. This is fine dining at a truly opulent level for Michigan.
