Martha's Vineyard Weekend on a Budget

Most people don't think of Martha's Vineyard as a location for a budget vacation. However, the location is so beautiful that you really don't have to spend a fortune on activities. Staying at an efficiency hotel, eating at low-cost restaurants, and visiting the local beautiful scenic areas are great ways to save money while vacationing on the Vineyard.

My husband and I were hosted by the MV Chamber of Commerce last summer for two nights at the Edgartown Commons. We loved the hotel - it's got free parking, and all of the units have a kitchen. That way, you can save some money by cooking in your room. You can also walk right to town.
Many of the restaurants in the Vineyard are on the expensive side, but Sharky's is a fun, upbeat place that is reasonably priced. It's open year round, and is family friendly.

Felix Neck is owned and operated by the Mass Audubon, and it offers activities on a daily basis. Members get in free, otherwise, it's a pretty reasonably priced admission fee. You can spend just a few hours, or all day.
With over 15 walking and cycling trails, this is a great place to enjoy the great outdoors of Martha's Vineyard. It's got over 5,000 acres, and is owned and operated by the state.
Lighthouse Beach is one of my favorite spots on the Vineyard, because it's quiet and beautiful! There's very limited parking, so I recommend that you walk there. But, because of the limited parking, it's also quiet and peaceful.

Lighthouses are one of the most beautiful aspects of Martha's Vineyard. Visit the Lighthouse at Edgartown for just $5, and see one up close. It's open from May through October. More
