It's almost a given that a vacation on Martha's Vineyard will be a splurge, because most of the island is fairly upscale. Almost any activity in those beautiful surroundings will feel like a luxury. But for those who are really looking for special vacation experience, there are some choice locations where you can treat yourself. Between these spots and the calming ocean air, you'll feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

Harbor View Hotel
The Harbor View Hotel is one of the best hotels on the ocean, and it's located right on the beach in a prime location in Edgartown. The Harbor View Hotel is one of the best hotels on the ocean, and it's located right on the beach in a prime location in Edgartown. There's a small lighthouse and beach right across the street, as well as a private beach, just for the hotel. It's also a conference center, so if your travels include business, this may be just the right spot. You can walk to town and to the wonderful restaurants of Edgartown.

The Beach Plum Restaurant
Food and Wine has rated the restaurant at Beach Plum as the best on Martha's Vineyard and one of the best in New England. It's located in quiet Menemsha Harbor, home of beautiful sunsets. Keep in mind that the restaurant is BYOB (as it's located in a dry town).
If you play golf, you'll probably want to play while on your vacation.

Lighthouse Beach:
Lighthouse Beach is a quiet little nook of a beach, right in Edgartown. There's not much parking, so it's best to walk or bike here if possible. The lack of parking makes for a nice, quiet spot though.

Vineyard Tennis Center, Workout and Spa
Want to play tennis, get a massage, or work out with a personal trainer while on your vacation? The Vineyard Tennis Center is a great spot, and they have daily, weekly, or monthly options. You can also choose to take tennis lessons, if you are looking to improve your game.

Farm Neck Golf Club Tournaments
If you play golf, you'll probably want to play while on your vacation. Farm Neck is considered one of the nicer of the golf courses on the island, and is where President Clinton plays when he vacations on Martha's Vineyard.
It's also a conference center, so if your travels include business, this may be just the right spot.
