Do it Like a Local: City Guide to Boston

I consider myself a local of Boston, even though I now live in the suburbs, because I used to live there and worked there for many years. While I started to become jaded, living a short distance away now makes me appreciate all of the things that make our city fabulous. From our unparalleled love for our sports teams to the beautiful neighborhoods with true character, you'll know why so many people call Boston "my home".

The Westin chain is always one of my favorites, and I especially love this Westin for the excellent location, right in the middle of the city. This hotel is attached to Copley Place, and is right in the popular Back Bay section of Boston. The T (our subway system) is right nearby, and the Amtrak station is directly across the street.
The Summer Shack is quintessential New England, from the menu down to the decor. The menu changes seasonally, but lobster and steamers (steamed clams) are always a good bet. Finish your meal with traditional Indian pudding.
In season, they can be found playing at the TD Bank Garden, which is adjacent to North Station.
We Bostonians are feverish fans of our Boston Red Sox, and Fenway Park is one of the best ball parks in America. So why not go? It can be hard to get tickets, but us locals know that standing room only seats can often be purchased, and are fun also!
You can't do Boston like the locals and miss the Boston Common. When the weather is nice, you'll think the whole city has come out to hang out, picnic, and play Frisbee in this beautiful outdoor park. In the winter, hang out by the frog pond and watch the skaters float on by.
Even though we love our Red Sox, most Bostonians are also fans of the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins. In season, they can be found playing at the TD Bank Garden, which is adjacent to North Station. Don't forget to hit one of the nearby sports bars before or after the game.
On the weekends in the summer, you are likely to see some sort of street fair/festival celebrating Italian heritage.
