Ogunquit, Maine on a Budget

Beautiful seaside path connecting downtown Ogunquit to the picture-postcard pretty Perkins Cove. A little over a mile long, it's smooth enough for wheelchairs and easy enough for kids. Free.
The old farm buildings are great for kids to explore and learn about life on the farm.
With kids? Go out on a real lobster boat and see how it's done. Adults $15, kids $8. Without? Take a cocktail cruise (cash bar) to the famous Nubble Lighthouse. Adults $22, kids $12.
Next to the Rachel Carson preserve is this old farm, saved for posterity. Plenty of trails to wind through the estuary offer chances to glimpse local flora and fauna. The old farm buildings are great for kids to explore and learn about life on the farm. Adults $3, kids $1.
Take the family to the races at 1/3 mile dirt oval just south of Portland. What's more fun than having a couple of cold brews while watching some fender-banging stock car action? Prices start at $4 for midweek races and $10 for weekend racing.
