OUR TAKE ON EAST BOOTHBAY

In the quaint village of East Boothbay, Maine, get ready to get laid back. This tiny town sits right on the banks of the Damariscotta River in mid-coast Maine. If you believe that “variety is the spice of life,” you’re in for a treat. You’ll find farmland, forests, beaches, peninsulas, bays, and rocky cliffs; you’ll be choosing between fresh water and salt water activities. Hop on board for a cruise to Monhegan Island for some up-close whale and seal watching.

Pemaquid Beach is just about 15 minutes away, and this short drive will take you to the state’s whitest seashore and a lighthouse that brings back memories of days gone by.

Family friendly accommodations are in abundance. Ocean Point Inn, an old resort at the end of the peninsula, has an idyllic view of all kinds of boats and lobstermen out collecting the day’s catch. There’s a pool and a natural beach for ocean lovers.

You’ll enjoy the short drives to restaurants and other sites. Lobsterman’s Wharf is a casual place to dine with hearty portions and good prices. You can boat up to their dock or enter the front door, for a good combination of lots of people enjoying this historic location.
