Bar Harbor Maine Weekend on a Budget

A visit to Bar Harbor in Maine can be budget-friendly as well as family-friendly. Consider visiting during the off-peak season to take advantage of deeply discounted lodging (just keep an eye on the weather forecast!). With a little savvy planning you can experience the loveliness of the area, the dining, the shopping, and the scenery, without going into debt. Here are some great recommendations to assist in your planning!

At $89 per night, the Quality Inn Bar Harbor is one of the least expensive hotels in the area, but does not sacrifice comfort, cleanliness, or the level of service. Kid friendly (with a pool!), a staff that possesses full knowledge of area attractions, and a breakfast buffet all guarantee your money's worth.
With prices beginning at $82 per night ($70 during post season!), The Wonder View Inn can't be beat for price, comfort, and proximity to downtown Bar Harbor. Keep in mind it's only open from the beginning of May through the end of October.

If you can forgive this place its name (oh the pun!), this is a great little spot to grab lunch and sit on the porch overlooking the Town Green. I recommend the Beef & Boursin!
Located in the Blue Nose Inn, the Looking Glass is a great spot for breakfast or brunch. Lovely views and great omelettes!
You and your family can spend days exploring all the roads and trails of Acadia National Park. Explore the carriage roads on bicycle, and follow the park map to explore all of the historic landmarks. Bring your camera, the views are prolific!
I recommend the Beef & Boursin!
When the tide goes out, the trail from the harbor across to Bar Island is revealed. Take the family on over there for a day of picnicking and exploring, just keep an eye on the tide so you can get back across! More
