Our Take on New Orleans, Louisiana
A New Orleans vacation will feature a spicy jambalaya of romantic getaways and kid friendly activities. The Mississippi River town is steeped in history, rich cuisine, wonderful music and colorful local festivals. Adjacent to the world-famous French Quarter and overlooking the Mississippi River is the Aquarium of the Americas, where you can walk through the underwater tunnel, view a shark-filled re-creation of the Gulf of Mexico, or drop in to see penguins. The kid friendly Louisiana Children's Museum for interactive exhibits. Or take one of the streetcars down St. Charles Avenue to the Audubon Zoo to view the rare white alligators.
For a unique New Orleans experience, both family friendly and quirkily romantic, go bowling at the Mid City Lanes Rock 'n' Bowl, featuring hip local music.
For a romantic getaway, stay in the Lafitte Guest House, on the quiet end of Bourbon Street, where you can relax on a balcony in a room filled with antiques. Or try the historic Le Pavillon, a grand hotel of genteel luxury, romantic evenings and glittering nights.
