Bowling Green Weekend With Kids

A short hour drive from downtown Nashville, college town Bowling Green, Kentucky, is home to the Hilltoppers. Western Kentucky University, the National Corvette Museum, and a quaint small town feel plus plenty of reasonably priced family friendly activities make this a great weekend destination in the Bluegrass State.

The closest hotel to WKU's campus, this Holiday Inn features a hearty breakfast buffet to get your family started, as well as friendly service and the amenity every kid loves in a hotel-the chlorinated glory of an indoor pool. It's centrally located to many restaurants and stores in Bowling Green.
The National Corvette Museum is a mecca for Corvette lovers as well as a fun, educational tour for the entire family. The $25 family admission is a great budget friendly deal. Have lunch at the Corvette Cafe, which features lots of options for little ones.

Family owned and operated, this is a treasure of a spot that features incredible homemade ice cream made on site and delicious sandwiches. Summer tours of the dairy farm are available and suburbanite kids will see for themselves that milk doesn't come from a gallon jug. A fun playground for little ones is also on the grounds, as well as a batting cage for older kids. Definitely worth a visit for kids of all ages.

Burgers and fries, salads, and a wide variety of other menu items are served up in a sports tavern type atmosphere. Rafferty's was open when I was a student at WKU in the early 1990s and my husband and I recently stopped there with our daughters.
