OUR TAKE ON WINTERSET
In Winterset, vacations are full of fun and romance. Winterset, Iowa is famous for being John Wayne's birthplace, but Winterset's, things to do go list goes far beyond this piece of folklore.
If you're planning some family vacations, Winterset has much to offer. Kid friendly activities in Winterset include a trip to see beautiful Roseman Bridge, featured in the movied The Bridges of Madison County. It's rumored to be haunted, but it's hauntingly beautiful if nothing else. There are many bridges in and around the town, and much of Winterset's tourism stems from things like the Madison County Covered Bridge Festival, which takes place each year during October. The covered bridges in Winterset make romantic getaways to the town enjoyable as well.
If you travel to Winterset, another attraction to take in is the Madison County Courthouse, a beautiful Romanesque structure built in 1901. The surrounding square is a fun place to visit as well, as there are many cafes, restaurants, antique shops and souvenir shops.
