A bed and breakfast with a twist. Boise's Anniversary Inn has 41 luxurious themed rooms. That's right, you can sleep in an ice cave, a castle, a treehouse, or dozens of other uniquely decorated suites. They all come with romantic amenities like jetted tubs and fireplaces. I highly recommend the Sun Valley suite.

Being a pub, there are plenty of choices of beer and ale to choose from, to go along with the very delicious food. I recommend the Spicy Lamb Grinder and the Real Idaho fries. Prices are very reasonable, between $10 and $20 for most entrees.
My favorite activity is to simply walk along the river.

There are three major parks in downtown Boise, but Kathryn Albertson Park is the one you want for a quiet, romantic walk with your loved one. First and foremost, this park is a bird sanctuary, so you won't find noisy groups of picnickers, dogs running free, or motor vehicles of any kind. The grounds are thick and lush, and there are plenty of benches to just sit and watch for birds. A relaxing oasis right in the middle of the city!

Built in 1870, the Old Idaho Penitentiary was a functioning prison for over 100 years, holding some of Idaho's most notorious criminals. Now, it's a fascinating look at the past, and a good reminder to stay on the straight and narrow. It may not be the most romantic place to explore with your loved one, but it's certainly quiet and uncrowded. Open year-round, with an admission price of just $5 for adults. Besides wandering through the grounds and buildings, there are also many permanent and rotating exhibits presented by the Idaho State Historical Society.
Just down the street from the State Capitol building, the Boise Art Museum features over 2000 pieces in its permanent collection, focusing on 20th Century American art, and emphasizing artists of the Pacific Northwest. Admission is just $5 for adults.
The wine list is extensive, and the atmosphere of the place is perfect for a romantic, candle-lit dinner.

The Boise Greenbelt runs for miles through several parks, but it's always fun to stop in Julia Davis to rent a 2-seater paddle boat and spend some time floating on the large pond. Or stroll through the beautiful rose garden, find a bench, and just sit for awhile. Here you'll also find Zoo Boise, the State Historical Museum, Black History Museum, tennis courts, and the depot for the Boise Tour Train.

If you're looking for a quiet evening of outstanding food, the Cottonwood Grille is one of the best in Boise. Their menu highlights regional Idaho-grown food, from salmon to elk to buffalo. The wine list is extensive, and the atmosphere of the place is perfect for a romantic, candle-lit dinner. Add in breathtaking views of the Boise River and nearby foothills, and you have a recipe for a memorable night.
