How to Be Featured Gem on UpTake
A featured travel gem is an outstanding blog post that stirs the wanderlust of the imagination and helps potential travelers make well-informed decisions. Featured gems can be found at the top of each UpTake page.
A Travel Gem is "featured" on a page if it meets these criteria:
- Links to a relevant page on UpTake or was submitted correctly via our online form for consideration
- Is positive in tone
- Is informative, helpful and actionable
- Helps the reader decide whether or not to take the trip
- Has a compelling voice that creates a sense of place and/or tells a good story
- Adds local color and brings the destination to life - it gives the reader a sense of the promise and the possibility
- Includes one great photo
- Evergreen - the content must be relevant for at least 2 years (no one day events)
- For a page with multiple results it must deftly portrays the region and its distinct areas and/or history
- For a page with just a single listing, it must describe it in great detail (e.g., it describes the hotel, it amenities and the grounds)
- We like to see theme focused posts such as romantic, outdoorsy, cultural or budget themes
Content Guidelines:
The post must be in English and employ proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization and sentence structure. It must speak to a worldwide family audience.
The post can not contain pornography, profanity or adult material. It cannot promote hate, violence, or suggest racial intolerance by advocating against any individual or group. It may not use an insulting, obscene or degrading tone. No political commentary.
