Volcano Vacations, Tourism & Travel Information

Our Take on Volcano, Hawaii

Mostly known as the gateway to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Volcano doesn't offer much except for the park itself.  Its small downtown district offers some romance during the evening hours, but is not suggested for any romantic vacation because of its only attraction.  Volcano is great place to stay (lodging is plentiful here) if you want to visit the park with the kids, but overall is not a great destination for a true Hawaii vacation.  However, there are a few spots that should entertain you:

Volcano Golf and Country Club.  Just a short drive from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, begin your romantic adventure in a classy way with scenic rounds of golf surrounded by lush Hawaiian landscape.  Make sure to bring the kids -- the courses here are easy enough for child play.

Volcano Winery.  The only winery on Hawaii, this is a popular romantic spot in town, although it is not cheap.  Sit down for a glass of wine, with Hawaiian landscape just a short walk away.

Kilauea Iki Trail.  A local trail frequented by locals, kids will love exploring miles of Hawaiian wilderness along this picturesque trail.  Sit in the shade during the afternoon while kids explore the wilderness and play in the grass.
