Honolulu is the capitol of Hawaii and the only major city in all the islands. While there are nice beaches on the North Shore, most of the action on Oahu is in Honolulu. There is historic Pearl Harbor, the interesting Honolulu Zoo, the thrilling Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park, and the extensive Ala Moana Shopping Center.

Nick's is known for their marvelous fresh seafood, exceptional service, and wonderful ambiance. They also have an excellent wine selection. Be sure to check out the beautiful mural by local Maui artist, Jim Kingwell.

There all kinds of great water slides, a wave machine, and the requisite delicious-- mostly unhealthy-- food. The Tornado is great for older kids.
This is a fun zoo to visit, right in downtown Honolulu, near Waikiki Beach. My husband once spotted a giraffe while driving along the highway. There are also some rare animals, such as the Sumatran tiger, Gharials, and the Hawaiian Nene.
