OUR TAKE ON KAILUA KONA
Usually referred to as Kona by the locals, Kailua-Kona neighbors Kailua -- this is where the similarities end, however. Although they encompass the same scenic beaches with crystal clear views of the Pacific, Kailua-Kona has a lot more to offer in terms of experience. Unfortunately this experience does not extend to kids (it is a bit too calm for their enjoyment), but adults will find Kailua-Kona a wonderful place to spend their vacation, either as a place to escape from life or to escape with a loved one.
For a great start to your vacation, consider a visit to the Hulihe'e Palace, the former home of Hawaiian royalty. Beautiful palm trees guard this ancient palace, still intact after centuries of abuse. With a view of the nearby Pacific, this has always been a popular romantic spot in Kailua-Kona.
Besides the Hulihe'e Palace, Kailua-Kona also has a very famous temple, called the Kona Hawaii Temple. A popular vacation stop, this temple belongs to the early Christians that founded Hawaii, still intact to this day. Explore the temple to view history at its finest.
Also,
Kailua-Kona offers a lot of affordable lodging inside town, including hotels
and bed and breakfasts. We suggest
picking lodging at a local hotel for service that beats no other in Hawaii. Want to learn more about Kailua-Kona? Visit their website
