OUR TAKE ON KAHULUI
Kahului, located on Hawaii's Mauian coastline, is slowly becoming one of Hawaii's hottest destinations in the Pacific, expected to be a popular vacation spot in the next 10 years. Although Kahului doesn't have much to offer in terms of city life, it does offer a lot if you want to relax and wind down. Kahului is not the place to take your kids (Kahului doesn't have many kid friendly destinations -- take them to Honolulu instead), but it is a wonderful romantic spot.
For starters, check out Kahului's beaches to learn how to surf the waters with a sailboat. Many boats are available for rental, with many honeymooners opting to sail the Pacific for a little downtown amongst the clear, romantic waters. There's also the Kanaha State Sanctuary, where Polynesian birds flock to enjoy the scenic Hawaiian waters as well. If that's not up to par, head into Kahului to enjoy some local cuisine, always presented with a smile. Romantic lodging is also available near the beach, with affordable rates and an unbeatable view. Surely romantic waters will stir once you experience lodging in downtown Kahului.
