Oakwood Vacations, Tourism & Travel Information

Our Take on Oakwood, Georgia

Although Oakwood previously had a bad reputation (it was the home of a prominent KKK member), Oakwood continues to be a popular vacation spot for people looking for the big city experience without the big city headache.  Its former roots in earlier years are diminished now, so families and kids are safe here, with residents always welcoming them with a smile.  Besides exploring the trails and forests available outside oft won, take your kids to Lake Lanier, which manages to draw nearly 10 million visitors every year.  Families will also love the variety of golf courses available, with easier courses available for kids.  We love the restaurants available here also, with wine available for a night a romance or simpler food for younger kids.

As for lodging, Oakwood does not offer much in this arena.  Although Oakwood has a lot to offer, lodging here should be skipped.  Visit a neighboring town or camp outside, where lodging is cheaper, better, and quieter.  Also, you won't find a lot of romantic options, although there are a couple available, including romantic trails around the Blue Ridge Mountains.  For more information about lodging, restaurants, and family friendly attractions available in Oakwood, please visit their website.
