Mc Rae Vacations, Tourism & Travel Information
Our Take on Mc Rae, Georgia
Want something a little different? McRae, located in central Georgia, is truly an escape from the ordinary with its main attraction, Liberty Square. Instead of visiting nearby Helena, which is more ordinary than interesting, take that extra hour to vacation in McRae instead, a truly American town. Taking your kids here is a must, with family friendly options available year round. McRae does not offer much for people looking for romance, but there are certainly options.
To get the most out of your family vacation, we suggest visiting Liberty Square in the heart of McRae. A replica of Liberty Statue stands in this square, hoisted up by marble. There is a marble-encrusted memorial wall nearby to show kids. Afterward, drive out of town to visit Little Ocmulgee State Park, which also has ample lodging as well. Travel the trails and sights with your kids, meet active wildlife, and stay in their local lodging facilities for a great time.
As mentioned before, there are not many romantic options here. We suggest eating at a local restaurant in town and ordering up the best champagne to make the most out of your romantic experience. There are some cute, romantic lodging suites inside of town if you're visiting without kids. Otherwise, drive north to Helena where you can find more romantic options.
