Atlanta has one of the largest suburban areas in the country. Although other areas like Decatur and Sandy Springs may get more visitors, Historic Marietta has plenty to offer both the city folk and country folk. Lined along the main square are boutiques, restaurants, antique stores and theaters. The kids can even play on the locomotive-themed playground.

While Marietta may seem like an odd place for an Australian restaurant, this cafe offers authentic meat pies you won't find anywhere else. Housed in an old warehouse, fans of the Margaret Mitchell book and famous film will appreciate the Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum. The museum offers copies of the novel translated into hundreds of languages, Vivien Leigh's costumes from the movie, original posters and everything an aspiring Scarlett O'Hara could want.
The museum showcases a selection of local painters and photographers and will soon be offering an exhibition of quilts.

Children and those young at heart will appreciate the novelties found at Eddie's Trick Shop. Fake vomit, lifelike rats, magic trick gear and a huge selection of costumes and masks are sure to make the kids excited and the parents worried for impending hijinks. Aspiring ballerinas should check out Center Stage, a dance store in the back.
Housed in one of Marietta's most beautiful historic homes, The Whitlock Inn is a popular site for weddings and special occasions. The wraparound porch is the ideal spot for a cup of coffee and a good book. Located on Whitlock Avenue, within walking distance of the square, each room has something different to offer.
