Our Take on Covington, Georgia

Incorporated in 1822, Covington, Georgia was named for the War of 1812 Hero, General Leonard Covington, leaving the city to grow in the mid 1800’s due to the railroad.  Covington may have a colorful history but in more recent years it’s been a filming site for television shows and movies including In the Heat of the Night, the first five episodes of The Dukes of Hazzard, Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, and My Cousin Vinny.  If you like spending time outdoors, Covington, Georgia is a great place to do that.  Take the family to an area park for a picnic or play a round of 18 holes at one of two beautifully manicured courses in Covington; Oaks Course or Indian Creek Golf Club, they are both worth a visit.

There are plenty of places to stay in Covington, Georgia.  Affordable accommodations abound, we recommend checking into the Corner Stone Extended Stay for a clean room on a long vacation, or the Baymont Inn Suites for great service at a great price.  If you’re in the mood for good food, then you’re in luck when you visit Covington, they have everything you can think of in this mid-sized city.  If you like the small town feel, but with all the amenities of the big city, then Covington, Georgia is a great place to spend your next vacation.
