Paris Weekend on a Budget

Paris is on almost everyones must see list and few people need convincing this is a city worth visiting, however the strong Euro sees Paris high on the list of world's most expensive cities. With a little planning and research reasonable accommodation and dining is not hard to find, and while entrance to most of the citys monuments costs over $10, there are plenty of things to do that wont cost a penny.

Finding reasonably prices accommodation in Paris is always a struggle. Finding anywhere that youd consider returning to is almost impossible, however with rates starting from just over 50 this hotel offers small but comfortable rooms with all modern amenities. While its on the outskirts of Paris its just walking distance to Montmartre, the Sacre Coeur and the Moulin Rouge as well as plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes.

There is free entry into this beautiful museum, built for the 1900 Worlds Fair, the Petit Palais is a fine arts museum and has many artefacts to rival those of the Louvre (if not quite as numerous). With regular exhibitions and low visitor numbers this is a place you can enjoy without the crowds.
The Palace of Versailles is vast estate built to demonstrate the wealth of French kings and the skills of their craftsmen. One of Frances most famous monuments is completely free to visit. The massive interior boats incredible rose windows, delicate stone work and incredible carvings. Dont miss the neighbouring park though, to enjoy a closer look at the architecture that made this building world famous.
