Romantic Orlando Getaway

Due to all the theme parks, Orlando is often marketed as a family getaway. But romance is alive in the City Beautiful, and these picks may help you grab some for yourself.

This charming bed and breakfast was originally built in the early 1900s and sits about two blocks from Lake Eola, within an easy walk of the downtown nightlife. It's way more intimate than a hotel room.
Another romantic downtown B&B is the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne, a collection of homes that surround a central courtyard. It's actually a bit hard to find, which contributes to the intimacy of staying here.
This is definitely a big splurge, but it will be an experience neither of you will forget.
Take a walk around the lake during the weekend Farmer's Market, or rent one of the Swan Boats and take it for a spin. The beauty of this downtown lake can induce much hand-holding.

About 30 minutes from downtown Orlando is this working winery that offers free tours and samples daily. At least once or twice a month they also hold wine and music festivals that usually cost less than $5 a person to attend. Buy a bottle or two to bring back to your room.
I think nothing is more romantic than sharing a meal with your partner, which is why I love the Melting Pot. This restaurant specializes in fondue entrees, but it's the fondue desserts where you can feed each other chocolate dipped items that will really set the mood.
The beauty of this downtown lake can induce much hand-holding.
If neither of you suffer from vertigo, a champagne hot air balloon flight can be very romantic. This is definitely a big splurge, but it will be an experience neither of you will forget. More

I caught the travel bug early, as my mother would often pile the two of us and the family dog into a van for trip after trip, covering most of the U.S. and Canada. Currently based in Orlando, Florida, I am still at my happiest when I can hit the road and discover new places to write about. As a writer, I have over twenty years of experience covering travel, entertainment and more. In addition to blogging for Uptake, I cover budget travel for Suite 101. I have also written several guidebooks, including the 2005 edition of WDW/Orlando For Dummies and Frommer's Irreverent Guide to Orlando.
