Orlando Weekend With Kids

Orlando is well known as a destination for family vacations, but you don't need a week of vacation time to enjoy the area with your kids. Step away from the familiar theme parks and explore some of the more moderately priced things to do with your kids. From cultural and educational to laugh out loud fun, you'll find a variety of things to do with kids of all ages. The great thing about a weekend in Orlando with kids is that the parents will have a great time, too.

Margaritas and kids? It sounds crazy, but the Parrothead inspired restaurant at Universal's City Walk is a great place for adults and kids to eat. Gatorland is a great place to get an eyeful of Florida gators from a nice, comfortable distance. You can also see crocodiles, flamingo and other animals. Don't miss the daily shows at Gatorland and the chance for your kids to wrangle a real, live gator! You may also want to stop by the gift shop for some gator jerky if you're feeling extra adventurous.

Sure, you can find mini-golf courses anywhere, but the Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf Course is over the top. The year round golfing weather allows mini-golf courses to invest in elaborate landscaping and dramatic obstacles between you and a hole in one. Although the Orlando area has several extraordinary mini-golf courses, this is one of the best combinations of great scenery at a reasonable price. Bring your photo to the course because you'll see plenty of things you'll want to capture, including the kids feeding the ducks!
I'm not sure if this is officially the largest Bass Pro Shop, but it has to be close. While the adults may be dazzled by the extra large inventory of outdoor equipment, the kids will marvel at the stuffed animals on display and the huge bass pond in the middle of the store. See live (and huge) examples of the local fish life through the glass. Rumor has it there's also a shooting gallery on-site. The best part? It's one of the few places in town where admission is free.
